Ongoing research on homes and history of the area are discussed. Foreigners who have lived here for years are interviewed so that their 'times' in Alamos are documented. Extensive archives are being held at Kathy's Corner for use on site.

provides financial aid in the form of scholarships to those children who wish to pursue higher education but whose families cannot afford the tuition required. This nonprofit organization has been established solely to support the Alamos community in their efforts to further the education of their children. Weekly house tours, membership drives and annual fundraising events provide merit scholarships to deserving students in good academic standing.
Kathy’s Corner, is the Reading Salon benefitting Amigos de Educacion de Alamos. Located at 6 Calle Obregon, (next to Hotel Colonial) the Salon offers a pleasant library setting with books, periodicals, board games and space for community meetings and activities. Hours are Tuesday thru Saturday 10:00 till 2:00. All are welcome.
Las Comadres de Alamos
(God Mothers) provides emergency assistance to families in need in the Municipality of Alamos. Our aid consists of, but is not limited to, the distribution of food dispensas,
food hampers, to over 400 families at Christmas and Easter. Financial help is also made available for medicine, medical treatment and transportation costs to receive medical treatment. An emergency food pantry is maintained during the year for families in severe stress.
Las Comadres operates a thrift store across from the Palacio at Calle Benito Juarez #6. We accept donations of gently used clothing for resale and/or distribution to needy families. Our shop The Tienda is open Monday through Saturday from 10am – 1 pm.
Pilots visiting Alamos can now join Club Pilotos de Mexico - Hacienda de los Santos and enjoy the annual fly-in with famous guest speakers and special event packages throughout the year.

Amigos para la Protección de Animales de Álamosmakes every effort to protect animals from abuse, neglect and exploitation. APPA inspires awareness and compassion within the community for all living things through education and regular spay and neuter clinics.
Fe y Esperanza Contra el Cancer
Fe y Esperanza Contra el Cancer I.A.P.
, (Faith and Hope against Cancer) is a non profit organization of Alamos women who are committed to fighting cancer and helping community members who experience this disease.
A recent fundraising dinner, which was well attended by many members of Alamos' ex-pat community, earned the organization 20,000 pesos, and those donations, in addition to the money earned by the group throughout the year, has enabled them to assist seventeen cancer patients diagnosed with several types of cancer including breast, cervical,and brain tumors. In addition the group has provided assistance to two children and one adult diagnosed with leukemia.
Fe y Esperanza is one of sixty-six non-profit charities to receive certification by the Private Assistance Council, a department of the Sonoran state government. This qualifies them to participate in the "peso to peso" program that matches their private fundraising efforts with government funds. In order to learn more about professional fundraising, two members of Fe y Esperanza participated this summer in a two-day workshop in Hermosillo sponsored by the Private Assistance Council.

DIF - Desarrollo Integral de la Familia
This Federal Family Services organization sets up and supports programs for families in communities and manages community wide disasters. They welcome volunteer participation.
Albergue - Shelter
Similar to the Ronald McDonald house in the U.S., the Albergue provides a home environment to families from the outlying areas who are attending to a family member in the hospital in the town. If you would like information on how to volunteer, please contact hospital administration.
